I have always loved music—it is a powerful way to express myself and connect with others. Being part of concert band has been a big part of my life, and I enjoy rehearsing and performing with fellow musicians. Volunteering at senior centers has also been rewarding; I have seen firsthand how music can brighten someone’s day and bring people together. In addition, I have researched how music can be used therapeutically, such as reducing anxiety or improving mood. It is amazing how music can have such a positive impact, whether through performance or healing.
The therapeutic benefits of music are vast and multi-faceted, offering tangible improvements in emotional, cognitive, and physical health. Through my research, I hope to contribute to a deeper understanding of how music can be harnessed as a tool for healing, promoting well-being, and enhancing quality of life.
As the president of our school’s Concert Band, I helped bring excitement and energy to our school’s athletic events, pep rallies, and other spirited occasions. Concert Band was the heart of the action during games, fueling the crowd with high-energy music and school anthems that got everyone pumped up. We played at football games, basketball games, and other key events—our music keeping the atmosphere lively and ensuring that school spirit was always front and center.
One of the highlights of being in the Concert Band was the chance to travel abroad. We traveled to Boston, where we performed at world-class venues, interacted with other student musicians, and immersed ourselves in the rich musical culture of the city.
